Youth Learn to Row

The Youth Learn to Row program is a 9-week summer camp-style program that introduces youth to rowing in a fun, relaxed, and safe environment. Participants will learn basic sweep and scull technique in a variety of boats, equipment handling and safety, getting in/out of the boat, stroke sequence, rowing, backing, turning and docking. On poor weather days, camp activities will include team-building games, education on nutrition and hydration for rowing, stretching/yoga, and ergometer/dryland training. After having completed the Youth Learn to Row program, rowers may choose to transition to the Junior Rowing program to continue developing their skills in the Fall season.

Participants under 17 who have not rowed with SJRC before must complete a swim test in order to participate. Swim test form is available here.
